Asiye Kafalıer was born in Eskişehir in 1966. She studied at the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Mimar Sinan University between 1983 and 1987. She completed her master’s degree at her alma mater in 1990. As a member of Atölye Sufi, she worked illumination art from 1987 to 1990. Between 1994 and 2000, Kafalıer worked as a representative of Mashareq Interior Design & Furniture Company, and received Mashareq research prize for her research on decorative arts in Turkish architecture. Kafalıer organized illumination art classes at the Turkish Youth Foundation between 1995 and 1998. On behalf of the foundation, she organized group exhibitions every year. In 2001-2002, she founded the “Art On Works” workshop in Vienna and worked illumination art. She designed for the ceiling of the Una Cade in the Museum Quiter in Vienna. Since 2003, Kafalıer has taught illumination art at Mim-art Workshop in Istanbul.
