Selen Uçer graduated from Boğaziçi University. She started performing at “Boğaziçi University Performers” (Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Oyuncuları). After studying singing at the Istanbul State Conservatory, she pursued her studies in performance and theatre at Chicago Roosevelt University. Uçer worked and performed as an intern at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, where she staged her play "Amerikan Rüyası." After returning to Turkey, she performed in the musical "Kantocu" at the Istanbul Municipality Theatre (2006) and "Böcek" at the Theatre Dot (2008).

Uçer has also performed in many films such as "Anlat İstanbul", "Bornova Bornova", "O..Çocukları", and "Zincirbozan." In 2008, she won the "Best Actress" award in the Adana Altın Koza Film Festival for her role in the Ümit Ünal′s "Ara"; and the "Best Supporting Actress" Award in the Ankara Film Festival for her role in "Büyük Oyun" which was directed by Atıl Inaç.
In 2011, she received the Best Actress Award in the 2011 Afife Jale Theatre Awards for her role in the theatre "Cam", which was directed by Laçin Ceylan. In 2013, she was awarded the "Best Actress of the Year" in the 18th Sadri Alışık Theatre and Cinema Acting Awards for her role in the film "Can."
