Kadriye Kenter was born in Istanbul in 1954. She started performing in plays in her highschool years. The first play she performed was Atilla Alpöge′s "Çürük Elma." When she was a conservatory student, Kenter founded the theatre "Halk Sahnesi Oyuncuları" with her 20 friends in Koca Mustafa Paşa, Istanbul. They staged many plays such as Brecht′s "Carrar Ana′nın Silahları" and Nazım Hikmet′in "İstasyon."

In 1972 Kenter entered the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory. After graduating, she began performing at Kenter Theatre as a professornal actress. She married with Müşfik Kenter in 1978. Kadriye Kenter has performed in various plays such as "Ay Herkese Gülümser," "Yürüyen Geceyi Dinle," "Vanya Dayı," "Eski Fotoğraflar," "Ölümü Yaşamak," "Arzu Tramvayı," "Kızımla Evlenir misin," "Aşkosun," "Yalnızlığın Oyuncaklar," "Maskeli Süvari," "Uzaklar," "Martı," "Anlat Şehrazat," "Aşk Çemberi" and "Nasrettin Hoca Bir Gün."

In the season of 2009-2010, Kenter received the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in "Cimri" at the Afife Jale Awards. She also won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Sadri Alışık Awards. In 2000-2012 she taught acting at Halic University Conservatory. Kenter currently serves as general art director at Kenter Theatre and the Bakırköy Municipality Theatre.
