Canan Ergüder was born in Istanbul in 1977. After graduating from Üsküdar American College, she went to the US at the age of 18 to study Sociology and Theater at Franklin and Marshall College. She then completed her Master′s degree in Acting at the Actors Studio Drama School of New School University. She participated in workshops at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Ergüder has acted in numerous theater plays. She acted as Kadın in the play "Bayrak," for which she received a Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2009 Afife Jale Theater Awards. She is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio since 2003.

In 2008, Ergüder returned to Turkey after spending 14 years in the US and started her career as an actress in Istanbul. She has acted in many TV series such as "Bıçak Sırtı" (2007), "Binbir Gece" (2007), "Behzat Ç" (2010-2012), "Güllerin Savaş" (2014), She has also acted in several films including "Behzat Ç. Seni Kalbime Gömdüm" (2011) and "Babam için / Will" (2011). In 2007 she received a Best Supporting Actress Award at the Hoboken International Film Festival for her portrayal of Nancy in the Independent feature shooting Johnson Roebling. Ergüder currently lives and works in Istanbul.
