 Can Gürzap was born in Istanbul in 1944. He first learned acting from his father and actor Reşit Gürzap. After graduating from Kadıköy Maarif College in 1962, Can studied at the Theater Department of Ankara State Conservatory. He graduated from the conservatory in 1968 and went to London to pursue his study at the Central School of Speech and Dramatic Art. He returned to Turkey in 1970 and started working as a director and actor at the Ankara State Theatre. He also taught at Ankara State Conservatory. He prepared many theatre plays for TRT radio. In 1978 Gürzap was appointed to the Founding Directorate of the Istanbul State Theatre. He also worked to establish the Theater Department at Istanbul State Conservatory, where he later taught acting for three years. Besides being an actor, Gürzap is a translator and playwright. In 1990 he founded Dialog Anlatım İletişim. He has also acted in many films and TV series. Gürzap has received several awards such as “Cristal Seagull Award,” given by Kadıköy Maarif College and Anadolu High School Alumni Association in 2009. He has published two books: "Konuşan İnsan" (Istanbul Yapı Kredi Yayınları, 2004) and "Söz Söyleme ve Diksiyon" (Istanbul: Remzi Kitabevi, 2006).
