Ayten Gökçer was born in Istanbul in 1940. She entered the Ballet Department at Ankara State Conservatory in 1953. She debuted in the film "Taçsız Kral" in 1965. Since then Gökçer has acted in many films and TV series such as  "Bağdat Hatun" (1981), "Hosça kal Güzin" (2008) and TV series "Yılan Hikayesi" (1999). She later preferred to perform in theatre plays. In 1980 she starred in the musical "Yedi Kocali Hürmüz." Gökçer has received many awards for her performance. In 1988 she received the title of State Artist. Gökçer currently lives and works in Istanbul.
