Aslı Yılmaz was born in Istanbul in 1975. She graduated from the Theatre Department of the State Conservatory at Istanbul University in 1996. From 1996-1998 she went to the UK to study acting. She completed her Master′s degree in 2004 and doctoral degree in 2009. Yılmaz debuted as an actress in the play "Julius Caesar," which was directed by Can Gürzap in the Istanbul State Theatre. Since then she has acted in numerous plays in the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (1985-1990), the Istanbul State Theatre (1985-1993, 2006-2008) and the Istanbul Municipality Theatre (1999-2006). Yılmaz has also performed in many films and TV series such as "Aşk Kapıyı Çalınca" (TV series, 2007), "Hayat Türküsü" (TV series, 2006), "Maki" (TV series, 2005) and "Kısa Devre" (TV series, 2002). Besides being an actress, she has presented many radio and TV programs. Since 1998 Yılmaz has taught acting. She serves as an instructor at the Theater Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory. In 2015 she received the Best Actress of the Year Award in the 19th Yapı Kredi Afife Theatre Awards. Yılmaz currently lives and works in Istanbul.
