Assoc. Prof. Ezgi Saydam was born in Istanbul. She graduated with a degree in sociology from Istanbul University, subsequently studying singing and opera with Yıldız Dağdelen and Güzin Gürel at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University. Saydam has also worked with Hanna Ludwig of the Salzburg Mozarteum, Carol Bayers and James Pearson in Vienna and Ateş Orga at the Dr. Erol Üçer Center for Advanced Musical Research at Istanbul Technical University and graduated in 2002.

In 1995, Saydam performed in the Istanbul Baroque Ensemble’s tercentenary production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In 1997, she sang some of Beethoven’s folk song arrangements with the Istanbul Chamber Music Ensemble in the International Istanbul Music Festival. The following year, under the auspieces of the Austrian Cultural Institute, Saydam marked the bicentenary of Shubert’s birth, giving a Shubertiade with her father the pianist Ergican Saydam. Resently she has sung Lieder throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as giving many performances of Shumann’s Frauenlieve und Leben. In the 2000-2001 seasons, Saydam gave her concerts in London and made CD debut in the St. John’s Smith Square as well as performances of Kamran Ince’s “In White” in Istanbul.

During the 2001-2002 seasons, the artist has performed in Istanbul, Brussels, Germany and Switzerland, interpreting W.A. Mozart, G. Mahler and R. Schumann’s songs. She has given her recitals and concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium. In September 2004, she sung in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Manchester Camerata and Leeds Festival Chorus in the Ripon International Festival in England. She also sung Clara Shumann’s songs (op. 13) in Istanbul in 2004; gave her concert in Cairo and Alexandria Oera Houses in 2005; and performed in Istanbul “20th century Soungs” in CRR Consert Hall in 2006. Saydam participated in the International Istanbul Music Festival in 2006. Her CD, R. Chumann’s “Frauenliebe und Leben” was released by pb music-EMI in 2006.
