Ethem Emre Tamer was born in Ankara in 1969. He started playing the violin at the age of eleven. He studied at Hacettepe University, Ankara State Conservatory with Prof. Nuri Çeken. With an award of incentive bonus, Tamer graduated as the first from the class of Assoc. Prof. Reyyan Yücelen Başaran and of Prof. Nuri Yücelen at Hacettepe University in 1990. After his studies in Ankara, his way led him to the Spohr Akademie to Wolfgang Marschner and then to the Berlin Hochschule der Künste to Prof. Ilan Gronich and Axel Gerhardt. Tamer studied playing the baroque violin with Simon Standage. Between 1992 and 1996 Tamer achieved outstanding experiences in orchestral playing by various temporary contracts with the Berlin Philharmonic and the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin. He has also played with many different orchestras as a soloist. He worked with conductor Lorin Maazel and Yoel Levi in the International Symphony Orchestra within the festival, “Music by the Red Sea”, in Israel in 1992.

Since 1996, Tamer serves as second violin leader in the Orchestra of the Staatstheater Darmstadt. Together with Michael Schubert, Tamer founded the ensemble "Händel with Care" in 1999. He also works as a guest artist with German famous orchestras such as Deutsches Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Frankfurt Opera, Wiesbaden State Opera, Mainz State Opera, Kaiserslautern Radio Orchestra, and Ludwigshafen State Philharmonic Orchestra.
