Timuçin Şahin was born in 1973. He started playing guitar when he was 16 years old. In 1992, he went to Holland, and studied jazz guitar with Joe Pass and John Abbercombie at Hilversum Conservatory in Rotterdam. Şahin continued his study in classical composition with Daan Manneke and George Crumb at Amsterdam Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music in New York.

Şahin has received many awards as a composer and a guitarist. In 2001, he won first prize at the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition with his contemporary Jazz trio, On the Line. In 2002, he received second prize with his composition “Occult” at the Jur Naessens Music Award. In 2006, he performed his music with Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra in Amsterdam, and received second prize in the Deloitte Jazz Award. Besides composing and touring with his ensemble in Turkey and abroad, Şahin teaches music in schools and conservatories worldwide. He has played and recorded CDs with Randy Brecker, Greg Osby, Robin Eubanks, Kai Eckhardt, Mike Mainieri, Mark Turner, Tony Moreno, Ernst Reizeger, Armando Gola, Owen Hart Jr, Donny McCaslin, Tyshawn Sorey, Thomas Morgan, Sean Rickman, and Marcel Wierckx. Currently, Şahin continues to compose and play his music in Turkey and abroad.
