Canan Cihangir started her violin studies with Prof. Istvan Nemeth at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University in 1990. In 1998-2002 she studied the violin with Thiks Kramer at the Rotterdam Conservatory. In 2002 she pursued her Master′s degree with J.J. Kantorow and I. Grubert at the Rotterdam Conservatory and completed it in 2004. Cihangir has continued studying chamber music with cellist M. Maskowsky.

In 1998-2004, Cihangir performed music from all periods of music history with the Rotterdam Young Philharmonic, Tilburg Belasting Orchestra, Netherland Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, Jaap Van den Ende Orchestra, Continuo Chamber Ensemble, and Concerto Rotterdam in Europe with famous conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Arie van Beek, Hans Leenders, Reinbert de Leuw, and Jurgen Hempel. Cihangir has also attended various master classes including Trio with C. Bor and T. Kramer (2002), string quartets with Z. Masckovski (2002-2003), solo violin with J. J. Kantorow (2002-2003), Mozart violin concertos with R. Honeck (2006) and chamber music workshops with Lucas David.

In 2004-2009 she worked as a member of Dokuz Eylül University Symphony Orchestra. Cihangir currently pursues her doctoral degree in violin with Prof. J. Rubenstein at the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylül University. Since 2009 she has performed as a violinist in the Samsun State Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
