Başak Ersöz was born in Istanbul in 1975. She studied flute with Nazım Acar, Bülent Evcil, and Prof. Mükerrem Berk, and composition with Ercivan Saydam, and graduated from the Istanbul Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1995. She then started working as a principal flutist at the Istanbul Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony and Opera Orchestra. In 1997, she received a fellowship from Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Foundation and studied at Buccinasco Music School in Milano. She graduated from Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in 1998. Ersöz continued master’s degree with Maxence Larrieu at Geneva Conservatory in 1998. She also worked with famous flutists such as Patrick Gallois, J. D. Castellon, and J. M. Tanguy. In 2000, she passed the examination and worked with Emmanuel Pahud who was the solo flutist in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Ersöz continued her study with a fellowship, and graduated from Emmanuel Pahud’s class with Premier Prix at Geneva Conservatory in 2001. She then taught at Geneva Conservatory for three years. In 2004, she received a teaching diploma signed by Emmanuel Pahud.

Ersöz participated in many master’s classes of flute and chamber music. She performed as a soloist or a member of chamber orchestras in the International Istanbul Music Festival, International Cemal Reşit Rey Youth Festival, Geneva Amadeus Festival and Norway Stangvik Festival. She has given concerts as a soloist with Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, Bursa Regional Symphony Orchestra, and Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, she was invited to the 3rd International Nice Flute Congress to represent Turkey as a jury member and give a solo concert. Since 2005, Ersöz has played as the principal flute at the Istanbul Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in many concerts of the Tekten Philharmonic Orchestra and Maltepe Municipality Symphony Orchestra.
