Ayla Erduran was born in Istanbul. She started playing violin at the age of four as a student of Karl Berger. When she was ten years old, she gave her first recital accompanied by Ferdi Statzer at the Saray Sineması. Between 1946 and 1951, Erduran studied violin under Benedetti and Benvenuti at the Paris National Conservatory and graduated from the Violin Department in 1951. She then continued her study with Ivan Galamian and Zino Francescatti in the U.S.A. between 1951 and 1955. Erduran gave her first concert in Newark with an orchestra, conducted by Thomas Schermann. Her first concert in Europe was in Poland, with Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. She played Glazunov′s violin concerto.

Between 1957 and 1958, Erduran studied under David Oistrakh at Moscow Conservatory. She won in the Wieniawski contest in 1957. She has had numerous concerts in Europe, South Korea, the U.S.A, Canada, Middle East, India, Africa, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. In 1958, she premiered Ulvi Cemal Erkin’s violin concerto with an orchestra, conducted by Ulvi Cemal Erkin, in Belgium. In 1963, Erduran had a concert tour with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in the Middle East. She also gave her concerts in many places in Turkey. In 1964, she won the Harriet Cohen- Olga Verbey Prize for her first recital in London, which was performed with Mithat Fenmen. In 1965, her concert in Albert Hall was broadcasted by BBC. In the same year, she played Sibelius’s violin concerto with Suisse Romande Orchestra, which was conducted by Ernest Ansermet, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Sibelius in Geneva.

In 1970, Erduran won the Beethoven Award in Holland. Next year, she received the title of State Artist of the Republic of Turkey. Between 1973 and 1990, she taught at Conservatoire Populaire and the Lausanne Conservatory in Switzerland. Erduran has had many duets with famous musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Henryk Szeryng, Navarra String Quartet, Igor Oistrakh, Valery Oistrakh, Victor Pikaizen, Guy Fallot, Collins and Mieczyslaw Weinberg. She has played with London Symphony Orchestra, Suisse Romande, Berlin RIAS, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ernest Ansermet, Karel Ancerl, Paul Kletzki, Gennadi Rozhdetsvenski, Jean Fournet, Michel Plasson and Armin Jordan. Her performances were broadcasted on the radio in many countries such as England, Germany, Brazil, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Irk, Holland, and the U.S.A. Erduran’s works have been recorded onto many CDs and LP. Her life was written as a story “Ayla′yı Dinler misiniz?" by Evin İlyasoğlu in 2002.
