Dr. Attila Kadri Şendil graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, the Izmir State Conservatory in Clarinet in 1997. He then studied composition with Paul Mefano at the Paris Conservatory (CNSM), and with Allain Gaussen at 18. Municipality Conservatory for two years. He also took a composition class from Eduardo Flores Abad and Prof. Dr. Hasan Uçarsu. Şendil completed his master′s degree in composition at Istanbul Technical University, Center for Advanced Research in Music (MIAM), where he studied with Prof. Dr. Kamran İnce, Prof. Dr. Pieter Snappaer, and Prof. Rouben de Latour. Şendil received his doctoral degree in composition from the University of Memphis, where he studied composition with Karman İnce in 2009. He also studied composition with Mehmet Aktuğ, Paul Mefano, Eduardo Flores Abad, Pieter Snapper, Reuben De Lautour and Hasan Uçarsu. In the next year, he returned to Turkey, and started working at the Akdeniz University State Conservatory in Antalya.
Şendil′s compositions span a wide array of genres, including large works for orchestra, large and small chamber works and numerous works for solo instruments. His works have been performed in Turkey, France and the United States. During his doctoral studies, Şendil received the University of Memphis Smit Composition Award in 2006. He has was also been awarded several prizes such as the second prize in the String Quartet Composition/Arranging Competition with the work “Mekik” at Adıyaman University (2011); the second prize on String Orchestra Composition Competition with the work “Zamanın Ruhu: İkiyüzlü” at Başkent University (2011); and the first prize on Piano and Violin Music Composition Competition with his work “Kirik Cam Parçalari Keskindir” (2012). Currently, Dr. Şendil serves as the Division Head of the Composition Department and a faculty member at the Akdeniz University State Conservatory in Antalya.
