Tunç Okan was born in Istanbul in 1942. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry and worked as a dentist. Okan then started acting in many films. He lived in abroad for a while. His first film “Otobüs” was awarded in many international cinema festivals, though it was prohibited in Turkey for a long time. In 1992, he received the “Best Director” award with the film “Fikrimin İnce Gülü – Sarı Mercedes” in the Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival.
