Semir Aslanyürek was born in Antakya in 1956. He studied medicine and fine arts in Syria. After graduating from the Department of Acting and Film Directing in the Faculty of Film Directing at the All Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, he completed his master’s degree at his alma mater. Since 1993, Aslanyürek has taught at the Cinema –TV Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. He has written in various magazines, journals, and newspapers. He published “Senaryo Kuramı” (1998) and “Sinemada Görüntü Kurgusu” (1995) (translation work). He has written scenario and directed several films including “Vagon Moskova” (1993), “Şellale” (2001), “Eve Giden Yol” (2006) and “Yedi Avlu” (2010).
