Saadet Aksoy was born in Istanbul in 1983. She graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Boğaziçi University. She started taking film and acting classes while working on short films, taking parts in stage productions, commercials and TV series. She made her film debut with Semih Kaplanoğlu′s "Egg," which premiered in Directors′ Fortnight at 2007 Cannes Film Festival. She received several awards for her role in the film “Egg” at many film festivals such as the Valdivia International Film Festival and Sarajevo Film Festival. In 2008 Aksoy acted in the film "Milk," which was shown at the Venice Film Festival Official Selection. She then worked with Argentinian director Alejandro Chomski for the film "A Beautiful Life." In 2009, Aksoy acted in Kamen Kalev′s film "Eastern Plays," which premiered at the Directors′ Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival. In 2009, she received the Best Actress Award for her role in the "Love in Another Language" at the Ankara International Film Festival and Bursa Silk Road Film Festival. She performed in Bart Freundlich′s film "The Rebound" with Catherine Zeta Jones and Justin Bartha. Aksoy co-starred with Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch in Italian actor and director Sergio Castelliotto′s film "Twice Born," which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012. In the following year, Aksoy acted in the film "Sürgün" and "Ragion di Stato," which was directed by Marco Pontecorvo for Italian RAI TV. Aksoy has also served on the jury at many film festivals such as the Cairo International Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, and Istanbul Film Festival. She became the spokesperson for L′Oreal Paris in Turkey in the year 2013. Aksoy currently lives and works in Istanbul.
