Özgür Doğan was born in Varto, Muş in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Communication at Ankara University in 2001. While studying at university, he shot many documentary films and achieved success in Turkey and abroad. In 2001 Doğan started working as a research assistant at Middle East Technical University, where he completed his Master′s degree in Media and Cultural Works in 2004. In 2007 he shot the film "İletişimsizlik" with a support of Greenhouse Documentary Develeopment Workshop, Sundance Documentary Fund, and Dutch Jan Vrijman Fund. Doğan then completed the documentary film "İki Dil Bir Bavul," with which he received many awards including "the Best First Film" in the Golden Orange Film Festival (2009). In 2012 Doğan shot the film "Babamin Sesi," with which he received the "Best Film" award and the "Best Scenario" award in the 19th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, National Feature Film Competition.
