Özgü Namal was born in Istanbul in 1978. She started performing in theater plays when she was 14 years old. In 2000 she performed in many plays including "Apaçık," "Tekrar Çal Sam," “Yan Etkili Konuşmalar" at the Theatre Fora. She graduated from the Theatre Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory in 2002. In 2004 she performed as a guest actress in the play "Taraf Tutmak" at the Istanbul State Theatre. Since 1998 Namal has acted many leading roles in many films including "Beynelmilel," "Polis," "Sır Çocukları," "Anlat Istanbul," "Mutluluk," and "Beynelmilel;" and TV series such as "Affet Bizi Hocam," "Yeditepe Istanbul" and "Hanimin Ciftligi," and "Kurtlar Vadisi."

Namal has received several awards including “the Most Successful Comedy Actress of the Year” Award (2005) for her role in the play "Kiralık Oyun" in the Afife Theatre Awards as well as the Sadri Alışık Theatre Awards, “the Best Female Actress” Award (2007) in the Antalya International Golden Orange Film Festival for her role in the film "Mutluluk," “the Best Femal Actress” Award (2007) in the Istanbul International Film Festival for her role in the film "Beynelmilel," and “the Best Actress of the Year” Award (2010) in the Ismail Cem Television Awards for her role in the TV series "Hanımın Çiftliği." Namal currently continues her work in Istanbul.
