Murat Soydan was born as Rüçhan Tercan in Kırklareli in 1940. He graduated from the Department of Turkish Music at the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory while studying at the Department of Economic and Sciences at Istanbul University. He also worked at Tekel while studying the university. After finishing his military duty, Soydan won a place in a competition, which was organized by Perde magazine, with Tanju Korel in 1966. Soydan debuted in the film "Kolsuz Kahraman," which was directed by Nejat Saydam in 1966. In 1970s, Soydan starred with famous actresses such as Türkan Şoray and Hülya Koçyiğit in many films. Soydan has acted over 245 films and TV series. In 1972 he received the Best Actor Award in the 9th Antalya Film Festival. In 2016 he won an honorary award in the 23rd International Adana Golden Ball Film Festival. Soydan currently continues his work in Istanbul.
