Füsun Demirel was born in Ankara in 1958. She graduated from the Department of Italian Language at Perugia University in 1976 and Roma Accademia D′Arte Dramatica in 1980. She began acting in Italy, working as an assistant of famous actor Dario Fo. In 1980 Demirel started her career as an actress in the play “Zengin Mutfağı,” directed by Vasıf Öngören, at the Berlin Kollektiv Theatre. Demirel has performed in many plays at different theatres including the Çevre Theatre, the Dormen Theatre, the Devekuşu Kabare Theatre and the Dostlar Theatre. She translated many plays of Dario Fo and Franca Rame into Turkish. The translated works have been published by the Açılım Publications. In 1984, Demirel first acted in a film entitled "Gazap Rüzgarı." Since then she has acted in various films and TV series. Demirel has received many awards such as “the Best Supporting Actress” for her role in the film "Züğünt Ağa" in the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival (1986), "the Best Supporting Actress" for her role in the films "Camdan Kalp" and "Berdel" in the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival (1992), "the Best Supporting Actress" for her role in the film "Ay Vakti" in the Ankara Film Festival (1994), "the Best Supporting Actress" for her role in the film "Böcek" in the SIYAD Awards (1996), and "the Best Supporting Actress"  for her role in the film "Büyük Adam Küçük Aşk" in the 23rd SIYAD Turkish Cinema Awards (2001), 38th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival (2001), and 13th Ankara Film Festival (2001). In 2016, she received an honorary award in the TAKSAV International Izmir Theater Festival. Demirel served as a director of Contemporary Cinema Actors Society (ÇASOD). She currently continues her work in Istanbul.
