Emre Erkmen was born in Istanbul in 1975. After graduating from Dokuz Eylül University, he continued his study in directing of photography, and graduated from German Film and Television Academy in 2004. In 2013, he received the "Best Cinematography Award" at the 32nd International Istanbul Film Festival. Currently, Erkmen lives and works in Istanbul and Berlin.
