Aydın Sayman was born in Malatya in 1953. He graduated from the Business Department in the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University in 1978. Between 1971 and 1973, he worked as an assistant editor in the Sinematek. Sayman has written film critiques in many newspapers and magazines such as Milliyet Sanat Dergisi, 7. Sanat, Gösteri and Edebiyat 81. He is the publisher and one of writers of the magazine Gerçek Sinema. He assisted many directors including Atif Yılmaz, Şerif Gören, Zeki Ökten and Orhan Aksoy. From 1976 to 1983, Sayman directed commercial films, documentaries and music clips. He worked as an adviser for the film "Eve Dönüş.” Sayman also served as an assistant director and general coordinator in numerous films such as “Karartma Geceleri” and “Mem U Zin.”
