Zerrin Taşpınar was born in Ankara in 1947. She began writing poetry when she was a student at Ankara Yenimahalle High School for Girls. After a long interruption, she continued writing poems in 1980. Her poems, stories and essays were published in many magazines such as Yarın, Varlık, Parantez (in German), Karşı, Damar, İnsancıl, Evrensel Kültür, Pir Sultan Abdal, Emekçi Kadınlar and Pencere. Taşpınar is a member of Pir Sultan Abdal Association, Human Rights Association, Republican Women’s Society and Writers Syndicate of Turkey. In 1995 and 1998, she served as a general secretary in the Literary Association. She also served as a representative of Writers Syndicate of Turkey in Ankara between 1999 and 2000. Taşpınar is proud of being an honorary member of Proletarian Women’s Association. As of today, she serves as an advisor and text writer in TRT. Taşpınar published two books: “Kuş Kanadından Masallar” and “Kuş Kanadından Öyküler” for children.
