Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zaman Saçlıoğlu was born in Bursa in 1955. He graduated from TED Ankara College and the State Academy of Fine Arts. After serving as an assistant at Ege University from 1977 to 1981, he worked at the Faculty of Fine Art of Marmara University until 2007. He received the title of professor in 1996. Saçlıoğlu taught as a guest lecturer at the Royal Academy of Gent, Belgium and Wollongong University, Austria. He usually writes short stories and poems. He published his first poem book "Günden Önce" in 1985 (Yazko publication). Since then, he has published his poems, stories, and writings in many magazines and newspapers such as "Yazko", "Türk Dili", "Düşün", "Broy", "Varlık", "Türk Dili Magazine", "Gösteri", "Milliyet Sanat", "Atika", "Yaşasın Edebiyat", "Adam Öykü", "Sıcak Nal", "Eşik Cini", "Dünyanın Öyküsü", "Botos", and "Dünden Bugünden Edeviyat."

His collections of short stories are considered among the best examples of contemporary short story writing in Turkey. The third collection of his short stories “Ruzgar Geri Getirirse” (If The Wind Brings Back- sub-titled: Stories With A Threshold) was published in 2002. Prof. Dr. Saçlıoğlu has won the three most important national short story awards in Turkey. Some of his short stories have been translated into German and English, and published in anthologies such as “Elsewhere” (Comma Press, 2007), and “Liebe, Lügen und Gespenster” (Turkische Bibliothek Unionsverlag, 2006), and “The Book of Istanbul” (Comma Press, 2010). Currently, he teaches at Istanbul Commerce University.
