Nihat Behram was born in Kars in 1946. He published his first poem in 1967. After graduating from a College of Journalism in 1975, he started working for Vatan newspaper. Behram published “Militan” magazine with Ataol Behramoğlu in 1975 and “Güney” magazine with Yılmaz Güney in 1977. Due to his writings, he was arrested and detained two years. In the 1970s, he worked as a journalist. At the decision of the Turkish Ministry on the 12th September 1980, Behram′s turkish citizenship was removed and he had to spend 17 years in abroad. He returned back to Turkey in 1996.
