Kemal Yalçın was born in Denizli in 1952. After finishing Isparta Gönen Teacher′s School, he graduated from the Philosophy Department at Istanbul University. He then taught philosophy at several high schools such as Kaman High School (Kırşehir), Kabataş High School (Istanbul), and Bakırköy High School (Istanbul). In 1978 he retired from teaching and started working as a journalist. In 1982 Yalçın moved to Germany and worked at the Philosophy Department of Bremen University. He taught Turkish language at Essen University. Since 1989 Yalçın has taught Turkish Language in the city of Bochum. Besides teaching, he has written poems, novels, and stories, and published more than 20 books. His books have been translated into different languages such as German, English, Italian, Spanish, Greek, French, Iranian, Flemish, and Armenian language. Yalçın has received many awards for his work.
