Hüseyin Yurttaş was born in Foça in 1946. He graduated from Edirne Fİrst Teacher′s College for Boys in 1964. After working as a teacher in many villages of Van, Amasya, and İzmir for 10 years, he was appointed to a school in Izmir. He retired from teaching in 1983 and started working in publication and distoributing section until 1990. Yurttaş founded the Bornova Municipality Library and Reading House. After retiring in 1994, he concentrated on literary works and wrote many poems and writings for various literary magazines and newspapers. He published "Dönemeç" literary magazine with his friends. Yurttaş has written proses in "Cumartesi Sohbeti" of Yeni Asır newspapers. He has received many awards for his poems. In 2012, he received the Melih Cevdet Award.
