Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Peker was born in Sürmene, Trabzon in 1953. After finishing Ankara Atatürk High school in 1970, he graduated from the Faculty of Religious Studies at Ankara University. He completed his doctoral degree in psychology of religion at the same university in 1979. In 1980, he was appointed to Samsun Islam Institute as a lecturer. He became an associate professor in 1987 and professor in 1994. Prof. Peker served as dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1997-2000. Currently, he continues serving as Department Chair in the Department of psychology of religion at Ondokuz Mayıs University. Prof. Peker has published many story books including "Çocuk ve Suç" (Istanbul, 2003), "Din ve Ahlak Eğitimi, Psikolojik ve Metodik Esaslar" (Samsun 1998), "Din Psikolojisi" (Istanbul 2003), and "İslâm’la İlgili Zihinleri Zorlayan Sorular" (Samsun 2005). In 2014, he received 3rd Naim Tirali Story Award for his storybook "Rüzgârlı Ceket."
