Fatih Özgüzen was born in Istanbul in 1957. He graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature in the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University. He worked as an editor at the İletişim Publications. His first writing on the film “Avcı” was published in Birikim journal. Since then he has written many articles on cinema and literature for various magazines and newspapers such as Yazko Çeviri, Yazko Somut, Çağdaş Eleştiri, Gösteri, Video-Sinema, Sokak, Yeni Gündem, Express, and Roll journals, and Cumhuriyet and Radikal newspapers. Özgüven taught cinema and literature at Boğaziçi University for a while. He has published novels, essays, and stories including “Esrarengiz Bay Kartaloğlu” (1990) and “Yerüstünden Notlar” (2001). He has also translated literary works of Nabokov, Mann, Borges, Kundera and of Woolf. Özgüven currently teaches at the Department of Cinema and Television in the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Bilgi University and works as an editor of the series of Vladimir Nabokov in the İletişim Publication. He has also written columns on cinema for Radikal newspaper.
