Cahit Koytak was born in Erzurum in 1949. After graduating from the Faculty of Chemistry at Istanbul University in 1973, he worked as a chemist and later engaged in trade. Koytak published his first poem in "Diriniş". Since 2009, he has written poems with the title "Yoksullar ve Siviller için Tezler" in Taraf newspaper. He has published many poetry books such as "Gazze Eisalesi" (Pınar publications, 2009), “Yoksulların ve Şairlerin Kitabı” (Istanbul: Timaş publications, 2010), “İlk Atlas” (Istanbul: Timaş publications, 2011), “Yeni Başlayanlar için Metafizik” (Istanbul: Timaş publications, 2011), “Cazın Irmakları” (Istanbul: Timaş publications, 2011), and “Şen Manyeviyat” (Istanbul: Timaş publications, 2011). Besides being a poet, Koytak is a professional translator. In 1988, he was selected as the "Best Translator of the Year" by the Writers Union of Turkey.
