Nejla Güvenç was born in Istanbul in 1969. She has been working as a designer for 13 years. She worked as a part of the design teams of various brands such as Derishow and Beymen Business. In 2002, she founded her brand “Nej”, and has created her collections using organic fabrics. The main philosophy in NEJ Organic wear is to find out the beneficial to the environment, beautiful and the best materials that are available in nature, and to use them in the designs.
Güvenç was appointed as the authorized design consultant at the Turquality project. She was one of the two women selected from Turkey in the “10.000” women entrepreneur project, which was conducted by Goldman Sachs, Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. She was a finalist at the “Turkey’s Woman Entrepreneur” competition under the “Most Promising Woman Entrepreneur” category in 2011, which was organized by Garanti Bank, The Economist and Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey.
Güvenç has attended many national and international organizations including Paris Pret a Porter, Tokyo I.F.F., Tokyo Weaready, Berlin Premium, and Istanbul Fashion Week. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Fashion Designers Association and the Board of Directors of Turkish Fashion and Ready-to-Wear Federation.
