Hakan Yıldırım was born in Çemişkezek in 1970. He studied at the Department of Stage Decoration and Costume at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University but discontinued. Yıldırım had his catwalk show "Ottoman Fashion Show" at the Museum of Anatolian Civilization. It was also shown in Dusseldorf in 1994. In 1997 Yıldırım presented his collection with L’Oreal in Paris (1997) and Italy (with Zeki Doğrulu, 1998). In 1998 he attended the “Young Fashion Designers Contest,” organized by the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations and received the first prize. He then worked with Turkish designers for several years before moving to London. In 2009 he founded his own brand "Hakaan Yıldırım" and presented his collection at London Fashion Week in 2010. "Hakaan Yıldırım" is known for his impeccable couture-like gowns, tailor made to make a women look beautiful. "The H by Hakan Yıldırım" is the more approachable line consisting of ready-to-wear garments that still maintain the level of class and luxurious design elements as his original brand. After showing in London, Yıldırım received the most prestigious fashion grant from Andam (the French equivalent of the Council of Fashion Designers of America), which enabled him to present a collection in Paris. He opened a French branch for his label with a studio in Paris. He has worked with many famous models and photographers in the world, such as Rihanna, Jenifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz, Emma Watson, Paris Hilton, and Lady Gaga. Besides his own brand, Yılrıdım collaborated with Koton and prepared the 2011-2012 Autumn-Winter collection for Koton. Yıldırım currently lives and works in London.
