Elif Koman was born in Istanbul in 1977. She studied shoe design and manufacturing techniques and graduated from the Department of Textile, Costume, Shoes and Leather in the Vocational School of Technical Sciences at Istanbul University. She then worked at several business firms such as Samteks Group, Beyoglu Shoes, Modarmoni, Tükek Holding, to gain leather and textile manufacture experience. In 2011 Koman started working as a lecturer of shoe design at Istanbul University, Vocational School of Technical Sciences. She obtained Master′s degree in fashion and textile design at Arel University. She has participated in many national and international fairs and exhibitions to introduce Turkish decorative handcrafts. Koman has been applying traditional Turkish Ebru art to shoe leather. She also uses different prints, patterns and techniques to make shoes. Koman currently continues working at Istanbul University, Vocational School of Technical Sciences.
