 Mustafa Erdoğan was born in Hakkari in 1965. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy at Hacettepe University and the Department of Public Administration at Gazi University. As a student, he had an interest in folk dance. He founded the Gazi University Folk Dance Group in 1985 and organized regional dance groups such as Edirne, Kırklareli, Artvin, Van, Bitlis, Hakkari, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Muğla and Aydın. He has participated in many competitions with them. In 1997-2000, Erdoğan choreographed and investigated Anatolia folk dance. In the same years he served as a choreographer in the Istanbul Gül Düşündürü Theater and Beşiktaş Cultural Center. In 1999 Erdoğan established “Sultans of the Dance” (Anadolu Ateşi), the first private dance group in Turkey, and has introduced Anatolian culture with dance not only in Turkey but also abroad. Erdoğan is a journalist as well and has served as a vice general secretary in the Çağdaş journalists Association and worked at the Democracy News paper. He was an Ankara representative of Söz magazine. Erdoğan has also worked as a freelance journalist in Turkish Daily News.
