Başak Özenç was born in Mersin in 1977. She graduated from the Ballet Department at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. Since 1997 she has performed as a ballet dancer in various ballet works including “Carmen Suite,” “Porgy & Bess,” “Harem,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Le Corsaire,” “The Arabian nights,” “Giselle,” “The Lady of the Camellias,” “Hurrem Sultan,” “Piri Reis,” “Çalıkuşu,” “Mavi Tuna,” “Bach Oriental,” “Çağrı,” “Scheherazade,” “Güldestan,” “Don Quixote” and “Nutcracker” in the Mersin State Opera and Ballet. Besides being a ballet dancer, Özenç has choreographed musicals and operas.
