Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Paksoy was born in Ödemiş in 1948. After graduating from Trinity University with a Bostwick fellowship, he earned his Master′s degree at the University of Texas at Dallas with a support of the National Science Foundation Research Program. He completed his doctoral degree at St. Antony′s College of the Oxford University in England with a grant from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom. Dr. Paksoy has worked as a faculty member in the Department of History at Ohio State University, Franklin University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Central Connecticut State University and as a Faculty Associate at the Middle East Center of Harvard University. Between 2001 and 2004, Professor Paksoy served as the Unit Head of the Uysal–Walker Archive of Turkish Oral Narrative (ATON) at Texas Tech University.

More than 60 of his articles have been published in over 40 academic journals in the world. Prof. Paysoy has published 10 books including "Gelecek ile Yüzleşmek" (2014), "Alpamis" (Turkish translation) (2013), "Bağımsız Yaşam İsteği" (2012), "Humans on Mars and beyond" (2012), "Uzaysal Yünetim Beklerken" (2008), "Identities: How Governed, Who Pays?" (2006), and "Lectures o Central Asia" (2005).

In addition to authoring numerous original and historical works, Dr. Paksoy is the translator of the historical fiction "The Sun is Also Fire," a short story about the struggle of the Turks of Transoxiana to remain independent of the expanding Caliphate in the 7th century and 8th century. He completed the translation of "Memoirs: National Existence and Cultural Struggles of Turkistan and Other Muslim Eastern Turks," written by Prof Zeki Velidi Togan (Dec 16, 2011).
