Dr. Günhan Börekçi is an historian and currently works as a part-time faculty member at the Department of History of the İstanbul Şehir University. After completing his B.A. and M.A. studies at Boğaziçi University, he received his Ph.D. degree in history from the Ohio State University in 2010.

His main fields of interest are early modern Ottoman political, military and social history, and comparative 17th century crises. Dr. Börekçi has prepared a number of articles published in various journals including an article entitled “Governor Feridun Ahmed and the work entitled: Nüzheti Esrâü’l Ahyâr der Ahbârı Seferi Sigetvar” (with Ahmet Arslantürk), “A Contribution to the Military Revolution Debate: The Janissaries’ Use of Volley Fire during the Long Ottoman-Habsburg War of 1593-1606 and the Problem of Origins,” Acta Orientalia Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 59/4 (2006): 407-438, and “İnkırâzın Eşiğinde Bir Hanedan: III. Mehmed, I. Ahmed, I. Mustafa ve 17. Yüzyıl Osmanlı Siyasî Krizi,” Dîvân Disiplinlerarası Çalışmalar Dergisi 26 (2009): 45-96.
